The Founders

The Salute The Troops Golf Classic was founded by two longtime friends who wanted a way to honor our veterans, wounded warriors, and active duty military. Steve Bassett is a Vietnam Veteran and Bronze Star recipient who served on a Recon Team with the 4th Infantry Division and Americal Division in Vietnam in 1969-1970. Glen Bjorklund is a true American Patriot and dedicated supporter of our great military. Together, they founded NoClu! Golf (www.noclugolf.com) and the Salute The Troops Golf Classic.

The History

The Inaugural Salute The Troops Golf Classic was held in July 2009 at the Lake Presidential Golf Club in Upper Marlboro, MD which was its home for the first three years before the tournament was relocated to Northwest Golf Club in Montgomery County beginning with the 2012 event on Monday, July 9th. More than 300 Patriot Golfers from around the Washington, DC metropolitan area and as far away as New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, and Alaska have played in this unique event during which time more than $8,000 has been donated to the Fisher House for the military and their families.

The Salute The Troops Golf Classic is guided by an Advisory Group which provides advice, counsel, and hands-on event support. Advisory Group members are:
